Unpack show 2016 by Hyphen

After the “thank you london” by the Hyphen Project 2016, I am exhibiting another work in Hong Kong. This is the 4th unpack show by The Hyphen, it’s my pleasure to join and getting know to the fresh graduate from London as well.

This year the unpack show exhibiting ten designers and artists, with various professionals like interior design, architecture, fashion, set design…etc…and including my work, which is an installation. I am showing the work “Melt Away” which was came from my lipstick collecting campaign; I collecting wasted lipsticks and spreading the message of palm oil over used, causing the deforestation problem. This is a side project from my graduation project. I am happy to display and showing  my friends, donors the work, at the same time, keep delivering the message in Hong Kong.

As I also wanna see the response from Hong Kong, where the culture and mindset is totally different from Europe. It seems the result is positive and audiences like my concept as well. And I am sure I will continue the similar topic.

the whole exhibition is by different gallery, some gallery even run by the artist him/herself, making me think of……could I do it myself?! promoting myself, selling my art, promoting others making profit….staying alive…….in artist path.

Affordable Art Fair – Painting or Illustration or 2D

Went to affordable Air Fair in Battersea Park on Sunday, those art works showing are under £5,000. I am going to see since…..I would like to be an artist, I want to find out what’s the minimum standard, quality, concept or any requirement else as an affordable art piece. the pictures I took are mainly sculptures, animals sculptures. however the painting and illustration are also amazing.

There are painter painting on steel or metal board, the scratch and shinny texture enhancing the beauty and attractive audience:

Using Smoke to draw, with random and specified shaped…..quite similar to my animals forming concept:

using wood or saw as the main materials, cutting shadows:

a MA fine art fresh graduated student with BA in textile…..woo amazing work with her own style own materials…….jealous…..when could I find mine?!?!?!?

Saving Tigers Exhibition “Thrive”

last friday visited an exhibition, curated by a multimedia artist Lauren Baker. Aim to raise awareness of tiger extinction and also funds to save them (selling the art piece by auction).

I found they are all interesting and inspire me much on my unit1 project.

“Tiger Bomb” – mushroom cloud with lots of tigers shadow inside. like saying tiger extinction is a disaster, they are disappearing…

Tiger chopsssss (could not find in brochure, but I like it very much!!!) is a picture of Tiger’s head, consisting 3,500 numbers of tiger chops (which is the no. of tigers in the world right now). That is funny if the artist keep doing that every period of time…..will the picture become smaller and smaller? and finally nothing?!

Milan Ventura Lambrate April2014

My selfing unit series were selected by UAL as one of the show in the Milan Furniture Fair 2014.

I am happy to be one of the student showing works. There are many other students/ Uni in the venue including Finland, Holland, Sweden…..etc. However I seems still confusing between design and art…..what’s my work should be? what direction I am going for? What other show I would like to join? so many questions coming out after that.
