Seems time is running out and I have to shape my project and get it on a right track…..here are some notes, will keep edit

Manifesto draft

• Sculpture, installation or anything related to spatial art.
• Reflecting the endangered animals dying reason, or
• Giving impact to the audience they are disappearing
• But not only showing the animal forms and gestures
• Functional is just a bonus, not a must

Original material bought from shop???

Raw materials picked up in nature? e.g. Shane’s work

Recycling material development…..upcycling

Develop a new material for sculpture?!

Target:

Specific on one kind of animals?

General reason for a group of animal extinction?

>>> palm oil >>> deforestation >>> Malaysia and Indonesia>>> Tigers, Rhino, Gorilla and orangutan

>>>Black Market >> poaching for money >>> different animal parts? >>>how they trade? How they hunt? How they find them?

Important concepts:

Small animals survive longer >>> small art piece survive longer to pass the message

Successful art piece should combined with excellent making skill /and narrative of the context

Imagine what works surround yours

Suggested by a tutor, Oscar, I try to organize my research on endangered artists so far I found. The reason to do this is….once you got this chart, you will probably knowing what you are doing. I agree with this and, the artist showing are not much….since many artist only showing, illustrating or presenting the beauty of animals’ shape, gestures….but not really giving audience an impact.

Illustration against poaching

an illustrator Robert Chew got a series of works against poaching, which showing some funny concepts…illustrate that these robotic animals can defend themselves against poachers, unlike today where they cannot defend themselves against illegal hunting.

The works are intresting, more on conceptual…..that’s a great work for illustration….I still finding my way for installation or sculpture.

I also fiound out the works are produced during the campaign by the International Anti Poaching Foundation against the illegal hunting of protected animals such as the African elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion or leopard. I will keep an eye for the organization: http://www.iapf.org/#

Congo Endangered Animals issue

Since doing research on palm oil…found that palm oil mainly leading the deforestation in Malaysia and Indonesia….and now seems targeting Congo for that…..therefore I will make the installation as Congo map shape….and, finding what endangered animals in Congo….discovered they got another issue killing the animals~
